Create a new team
Wanting to join a one-on-one ladder? Are you a respectable clan leader hoping to test the strength of your forces? Perhaps you're sick of being picked last in the playground and have finally decided to stuff everyone and make your own team? Whatever the reason, you're going to want to follow these next few steps to successfully create a team on SIXAXIS Gaming.
Here's what you do:
- Click on Leagues › Create Team.
- Enter the team name and click Add Team.
- You can then edit the team by going to Leagues › UCP and clicking on the specific team.
Bada-bing, bada-boom, a new team has been born. Unlike most births, this one won't leave you covered in a messy residue. Enjoy!
Join an existing team
Let's imagine for a second that you're a demigod with a controller. Perhaps you already are? Every team wants a piece of your gaming expertise and you're not wishing to let them down. Lucky you - even the Church of Scientology didn't want me as a member.
Ignoring sad personal matters for a minute, to join a squad you have quite a few different avenues you can take. These are:
- Find the team you want to join.
- Click on Join!
- Enter the team password. This is best found by contacting the team's founder or a member of the team's leadership group.
IMPORTANT REMINDER: you won't be able to join a team if they're competing on the same ladder as another team you're already a part of.
How to join a ladder
Joining a ladder is quite a vital step in the competitive process. If performed incorrectly, you might find yourself alone in lobbies waiting for an opposition who will never arrive or are possibly non-existent. You might even find yourself trying to play soccer against people with AK-47's and a penchant for flag capture.
Fear not, however, as we're here to lead you through this joining process.
- Click on Leagues › UCP.
- Click the team you wish to use.
- Select the league you want to join and click on the Join League button.
IMPORTANT REMINDER: You won't be able to join a ladder if another team you're in is already on that ladder. Makes sense, I hope.
Now go forth, comrades, and climb those rungs to glory!
How to issue a challenge
So you're on this ladder, right, and you want to make a name for yourself. "But how do I get all the others to notice me?" we pretend to hear you ask. Simple, really: by declaring war on them. Certainly got Poland's attention in 1939 and it'll do the same for those above you on the ladder.
To challenge a team just follow these steps:
- Open up the Rankings page for the league you wish to issue the challenge on.
- Find the team you want to challenge and click Fight! on the right hand side.
- Select 3 different time/date options and submit the challenge.
And that's it. Now go make some friends... and beat the crap out of them.
How to accept a challenge
You're a marked man. People are issuing you challenges left, right and centre. Unfortunately this is not France and you will not be able to back out, else you'll just slide down the ladder into oblivion.
To accept someone's challenge, follow these steps:
- Open up your UCP.
- The challenge should appear at the top of the page.
- Finalize the match time/date.
Remember you must accept all challenges made, failing to do so will result in your team receiving a forfeit loss.
Now it's just a matter of showing up to the match on the specified game and time. We'll leave the winning and losing up to you.
How to report a win
Congratulations! You're winner! Now you just need to tell the ladders of the way your team gallantly overcame the odds; of how your flowing blonde locks whipped wildly as you delivered the final blow, and how the light rippled off, and accentuated, your muscular frame.
Um.
To report a win, do this stuff:
- Open up your UCP.
- The challenge should appear at the top of the page under Confirmed Matches.
- Click on View or Report Match!
- Enter the score, select the winner and hit report.
And now you're either a little further up the ladder or have successfully defended your position. Top form, sir.
How to list yourself as a Free Agent
It's over between you and your previous team. You've said your goodbyes (no matter how polite they may be) and you plan on moving onto greener pastures.
Or maybe this is just the beginning for you? You're fresh off the bus, ready to make a name for yourself in the competitive circuit.
Either way, you're going to want to be in a team, and the best way to get recruited is to put your name up on the Free Agents board. To do this you simply:
- Open up your UCP.
- Change your free agent status.
We recommend you enter such details as your past clan history, your statistics on various games, what type of personality you have, if you have a microphone, etc, as these are all things a team will be looking for when they're recruiting new people.
Good luck, and may you find a happy, non-abusive home.
How to list your team as Recruiting
Have you just made a team and need some sentient beings to populate it? Are you hoping to pick up some secret weapons for an upcoming league? Or are you just sick of hearing your co-leader's stupid trumpet-related joke over and over and want some fresh humour in your clan?
If the answer to any of these was yes, then you're in the right place. Here's how to place your squad on the "Teams on the Hunt" list so that others can message you for an invite:
- Open up your UCP.
- Click on the team in question.
- Change your recruiting status.
People wishing to join your team will be able to click on you there a shoot you a message.
